At INSERCO, we are committed to keeping you up to date on the current developments in the global market. In this issue, we present a piece of equipment that can monitor electrical circuits and report deviations immediately.<br \/>\nElectrical circuits are usually protected by residual current circuit breakers which immediately break the circuit in the event of an overload, shutting down the system and preventing any damage.<br \/>\nThe residual current monitor reacts before this happens, avoiding downtime and letting production go on uninterrupted. Below, you will find some detailed descriptions provided by Dahms, the developer of the RCMB70 Residual Current Monitor:<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the availability of electric manufacturing systems has become more and more important for many companies. In many industries, a single system failure can mean losses in the five- or six-figure range. Residual current monitors in accordance with the current IEC 52020 standard can address this issue. The residual current can be used to indirectly monitor the insulation resistance of a system. In the event of an increase in residual current, simple residual current devices (RCDs) would immediately shut down the system without a chance to warn the electrician in charge. Residual current monitors, however, can detect an increase in residual current at an earlier stage. In this way, repair measures can be better coordinated and the probability of system downtime reduced.<br \/>\nAlongside system availability, safety is another very important aspect. Defective systems might not just interrupt production processes, they might also pose a safety risk.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6090&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_column_text]The RCMB 70 Residual Current Monitor can measure DC and AC residual currents with frequencies of up to 100 kHz. The true root mean square (TRMS) is converted into a standard 4\u201320 mA DC signal, giving the user a number of connection possibilities. The RCMB 70 is usually connected to a PLC or multimeter. Alongside the 4\u201320 mA DC output, the device has a built-in relay which will trip just like conventional RCDs between 50% and 100% of the rated residual current. These contacts can trigger external acoustic or visual alarms.
