INSERCO informs you about mobile cooling units

Dear customers and business associates,

When it comes to the field of thermal engineering, it is important to work together with a flexible partner and utilise the most advanced heat technology that is tailored to your requirements and cuts costs. At INSERCO, our aim is always to present you with tailor-made solutions. The Mobile Cooling Unit produced by Ness Wärmetechnik GmbH is a very interesting solution with a wide range of applications that can be used wherever it is needed. For example, it can significantly speed up maintenance processes – even for existing short-cycle presses – which significantly reduces downtimes.

With this new, innovative mobile cooling unit for thermal oil systems, we are presenting a solution that is very technologically sophisticated, yet also offers a high degree of flexibility. We are delighted to be able to present this modular expansion in more detail below.

Mobile cooling unit for thermal oil systems

Although they are highly complex and often operated under high loads, large-scale heat transfer systems can be operated for long periods without interruptions and with a low level of maintenance. Because they are a key component of the production process in many companies, every period in which they are not running leads to massive losses. Necessary maintenance and repair work needs to be carried out quickly. This is where cooling units can help. But because the systems do not need to be cooled very often, the installation of permanent, fixed cooling units is rarely a financially viable option. Mobile units that can be used in different circuits based on requirements offer an alternative solution here. In the future, this solution will be available as a standardised product within the NESSessities product range of Remshalden-based company NESS Wärmetechnik GmbH.

The NESS Mobile Cooling Unit (NMCU) for thermal oil systems significantly reduces the time it takes to cool down primary circuit sections or individual production lines. In the event of maintenance and repair work, the cooling process can be completed up to ten times faster depending on the initial situation and the volume of the heat exchanger.

This modular solution increases the safety, availability, durability and efficiency of existing plants.

In the industrial sector, time is money

This becomes particularly clear when production plants are brought to a standstill. There is never a perfect time for downtime, but when you can choose it yourself, you can reduce the impact it has on day-to-day production to a minimum. For this reason, any work that needs to be done on production plants must be planned in advance wherever possible and coordinated with production processes.

If maintenance work is due on sections of large-scale heat transfer systems or for individual production plants, such as short-cycle presses, then temperatures of up to 300 °C can prevent work from being started straight away. The temperatures must be brought down before the work can be started. Without additional cooling, lowering the temperature to appropriate levels can sometimes take more than a day, which means a lot of valuable time is lost.

“Of course, it’s even more annoying when unplanned maintenance work needs to be performed on the system. Maintenance work can still be planned – but it is rarely possible to coordinate urgent repairs with the production processes. Any opportunity to reduce unplanned downtimes saves money.” says Achim Schwarz, Sales Engineer at NESS Wärmetechnik GmbH.

If the complete thermal oil system needs to be shut down in these cases, even the sections of the production plant that are not affected by the work are taken out of operation. In addition, the unnecessary cooling leads to additional energy losses, which must be compensated for afterwards at great expense.

Unlimited mobility
Thanks to its compact, two-part skid design, the NMCU mobile cooling unit made by NESS Wärmetechnik GMBH can be transported directly to the place of use on site with a forklift. This mobile use makes it possible to only cool the necessary part of the system.

Power is supplied to the cooling unit via a 63-A three-phase connector and the unit can be controlled via its own control unit. The thermal oil is supplied to the unit and returned to the system via the included corrugated hoses and the oil is circulated via a pump installed in the NMCU. The thermal oil is cooled by a heat exchanger with an integrated axial fan and the heat energy is released into the ambient air. As a result, no cooling water is required. Depending on the temperature of the oil as it enters the unit, the cooling capacity can reach over 1 MW.

Conclusion: Using the NMCU from the NESSESSITIES product range can help to significantly reduce the duration of maintenance work on thermal oil systems, and in doing so, save money.

At INSERCO, we think that the benefits of this modular cooling unit speak for themselves. It is a single system that can bring about significant time and cost savings and also offers unlimited mobility. We hope this has piqued your interest. Please get in touch and we would be happy to help you develop your projects further.
